Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal & CII participate in investors roadshow in Dubai

LUDHIANA: A high-level delegation comprising 18 Confederation of Indian industry (CII) members, led by Punjab's Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, took part in a roadshow organised at Hotel The Oberoi in Dubai on Wednesday. The delegation took part in an investors' roadshow to showcase the strengths and plethora of investment opportunities the State of Punjab has to offer.

"The objective of conducting this outreach seminar in Dubai is our endeavour to reach out to you. We wish to offer a great platform to the investors who are exploring investment opportunities in India and to convince them as to why Punjab is the best investment destination in the country," Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said while addressing business community of Dubai.

"Mohali shall emerge as the economic hub of Punjab through the proposed 'Edu City', which shall have international-level educational facilities right from school to research level. An 'IT City', which shall house leading IT companies, besides, a 'Medi City', comprising world-class multispecialty hospitals, medical colleges and research institutes," he added.

The delegation members informed that visitors that a High-tech Cycle Valley' spread over an area of 300 acres is coming up near Ludhiana while a 200-acre 'Industrial Manufacturing Cluster'at Rajpura in Patiala-both of which are part of the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor announced by the Government of India.

Senior government officials present at the raodshow informed that Punjab also has an attractive policy for the food processing industry, given the inherent advantages of the state in this sector. A food processing cluster anchored by ITC is also coming up along with a private food processing park in Kapurthala. Post the roadshow, various B2G meetings were also conducted between the members of the visiting delegation from Punjab and local industry representatives of UAE to explore potential areas of mutual collaborations as well as to extend an invitation to the UAE investors to partner in the growth story of Punjab.
